Captivity

I'll drink what they're drinking
I'll smoke what they're smoking
I'll hear what they're saying
But I won't do it like they're doing

Where's the love when everything is just a blur?
What makes you feel alive may get you hurt
When the sunshine is just too bright
Maybe happiness is just too shy
If they're so kind why'd they even bother to try
To lock me in a cage if there's no light inside?

Just like a bird I need to fly, pale blue sky
Don't cut off my wings, I'll rot and die
Captivity is the worse kind of crime
Against a soul as free as mine's

I've been dreaming on my pillow every night
I'll spread my wings and fly, upon the pale moonlight
I'll be infinite on my way, live forever everyday
But then again I'm wide awake and it kills me to stay
Captivity is the worse kind of crime
Against a soul as free as mine
